Chiltern House, 82 Packhorse Road

Chiltern House redevelopment

Introduction

In February 2024, Leonard Cheshire closed and sold the former Chiltern House site. Since then, the new owners have been drawing up plans to redevelop the site.

Our vision

The proposal is to transform the site into a new purpose-built modern care home. This new home will provide the highest standard of care for older people, including specialised dementia and nursing care services.

Why this matters

This redevelopment is crucial as it addresses the urgent need for high-quality care home provision in the area. The new care home aims to offer a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for elderly residents, ensuring they receive the best possible care.

We believe this new care home will be a valuable addition to the area, providing essential services and creating a positive impact on the lives of many. We are committed to keeping the community informed about our progress. A public exhibition was held on Wednesday 5 June to showcase our plans for the site.

November 2024 Update

We held a public exhibition in June 2024, where residents and local stakeholders were invited to view and comment on our proposals.

The proposals were well supported. Since the exhibition and following feedback, we have made a number of improvements to the proposals. We have worked closely with the council and have now submitted our plans.
